English Graduation Threshold

 

Objective

The Center goal is to nurture the students’ ability to learn, to express themselves in English, and to communicate cross-culturally, enabling students to obtain an English proficiency certificate with which they can enhance competitiveness in the job market and to boost international mobility.

Missions

  • Hosting standardized proficiency tests, such as CSEPT, TOEIC, and Linquaskill, in cooperation with international testing institutions.   
  • Creating a friendly environment to motivate and facilitate language learning.

According to “Shu-Te University Student Graduation Requirements for English Proficiency Standards and Counseling Procedures,” the students of 4-year daytime program (not including the students who hold Special Education Student Evaluation Certificate issued by Ministry of Education or those who participate the Dual System of Vocational Training Project guided by the Ministry of Labor) are required to pass English proficiency threshold.

If a student fails the official proficiency tests at least twice before the third year, he/she can apply for the English Proficient Development – English Remedial Course. The course is zero credit, and a total of two hours a week for 18 weeks are offered to fourth-year students. Students must pass the English Remedial Course to graduate.

For students who have passed English proficiency test criterion and want to apply for English Remedial Course, please fill out the form from the website of Language and Culture Center before the due day, and follow the application process.

  • Applying for Passing English Proficiency Test Criterion
    • Deadline for submitting application form for the second semester of the Academic Year 2020:
      • 2020/09/07 (Monday)~2020/10/30 (Friday) 09:00~17:00
      • 2020/12/07 (Monday)~2021/01/13 (Wednesday) 09:00~17:00
    • The deadline for submitting the transcript for the current semester is on Wednesday, 13 January 2021.
  • Applying for English Remedial Course
    • For students who want to take courses for the first semester of the Academic Year 2020, the deadline for submitting the application is listed below:
      • 2020/06/01 (Monday)~2020/09/18 (Friday)  09:00~17:00
    • For students who want to take courses for the second semester of the Academic Year 2020, the deadline for submitting the application is listed below: 
      • 2020/12/07 (Monday)~2021/02/26 (Friday)  09:00~17:00

Please fill out the application form from the website of Language and Culture Center, print out the application form, attach the related documents, and then submit your documents directly to the Language and Culture Center in the given time.
